Birth and Postpartum Doula Services

My Philosophy for Support

This wasn’t what I thought birth could be like. In fact, I didn’t even know what a Doula was with my first birth. I lacked knowledge of physiological birth (aka your body was made to birth your baby) and support. The kind of support that went beyond squeezing a hand and rubbing a back. I didn’t know how badly I needed the circle and wisdom of the wise women who came before me. Women who birthed in caves and fields, in small rooms surrounded by mothers and aunts and sisters. You see, women have been supporting each other in birth for centuries. I have come to strongly believe you are instinctively and physiologically capable of birthing your baby.

I personally have had hospital births and a planned home birth. I have strong memories of  the early stages of pregnancy and motherhood: excitement, confusion and nervousness. For my later births, a strong and supportive birth team and quality education helped me have peaceful, powerful and redemptive birth. Those are the fundamental things I bring to my clients now.

When you choose me as your Doula, I will provide support and services unique to your birth plan in the hospital, birth center, or home. Every woman deserves the opportunity to be educated, empowered and safe during birth.

As a Doula, I want make deep connections of trust with my clients. I want them to feel held and seen.  I also emphasize the importance of quality birth education and the feeling of connection within the community, which is why I offer a lot of community birth education. For my clients, I am here to ensure they the have emotional support, physical comfort, and the information and space to make informed choices for their  birth. I help clients navigate the months of pregnancy and provide hands on care and support during birth.  I want my clients to feel like they’re sitting in the safe and welcoming presence of an old friend, who, when they’re tired, will gently whisper back and remind them just how powerful they can be. I firmly believe that care shouldn’t stop at birth.  Which is why I provide postpartum support and placenta encapsulation as well.
