Amanda Barta, Doula

Hello and Welcome! I’m Amanda!

I am a Doula, wife and mother of five.

I’ve always found myself in the position of a helper. Nurturing others has always been my calling - highlighting different roles through out stages in my life. During those stages I have always fond myself fond of pregnancy and birth. However, it wasn’t until I experienced a truly transformative home birth of our fourth child that I finally was ready to listen to the calling to serve women in birth in a manner that nurtured but also empowered.

My personal experiences of birth have been both in the hospital and at home, all vastly different and all with lessons to learn. It is in part, because of these experiences, that I feel so humbles to meet mothers wherever they are in their journey of birth. I offer respect and comfort but a gentle nudge to question the status quo around birth.

My call to birth and motherhood combined has also given me a deep desire to help build community for my clients and the new families I meet. I am passionate about holding the mother and helping families link arms with the resources and support they need to connect and grow.

Aside from studying up on birth, I am first and foremost a homeschooling mom to my kids! Our family resides on a small homestead Northwest of Duluth where we raise chickens, goats and grow a family garden. Most days you can find me walking barefoot in the garden, digging in the greenhouse or chasing my kids on adventures through the woods. We lead a very “hands on” life and are always finding new hobbies to dive our hearts and hands into.

Kaia Abrams, Doula Apprentice

My name is Kaia and I'm thrilled to be mentored by Amanda. I discovered my passion for serving women in the Doula role through my own personal health journey, where I eventually was exposed to what true physiological birth looks like and how beautiful it is. Outside of my Doula role, I help run a holistic nutritional therapy business that serves women with hormonal, digestive, metabolic, and fertility issues. I'm especially passionate about equipping women to confidently know how to nourish themselves and their families. I'm so excited to get to serve pregnant moms physically, spiritually, and emotionally alongside Amanda :)
